Why did you choose your profession?
I was organized, disciplined, detailed oriented, and analytical from a young age. I did very well in some basic accounting and finance courses during my early college years. I guess my analytical and detailed oriented mind helped me grasp the accounting concept faster and quicker than many students in my class. Doing well in accounting and finance classes is what made me plan my career in accounting.
Who is the one person who has done the most to shape you into who you are today?
How was the person significant to you?
One person who has the biggest impact on my life is my father. He was a smart individual, very organized and disciplined in his life. We saw him doing everything in a very methodical way. He expected me and all my siblings to follow the same principles in whatever we do. He was hard-working and honest. I learned from him how to work hard to achieve my goals. He praised and expressed his happiness when we achieved our goals. He used to say “you have to be honest to yourself. Because if you are not, nothing will make you happy, and happiness is what you need to strive for”
What has been the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?
Is there anything you wish to do even better?
My greatest achievement in my life is my wonderful and successful daughter, my only child. I believe I am successful as a father and also as a man that I was able to pass on some of the values that I inherited from my father: honesty, integrity, and hard work. I am happy to see that she is turning out to be a wonderful, bright and happy woman. I like to think that I have some contribution to her upbringing besides her mother.
In the hindsight I can see a few things that I should have done differently in my life. But that is in the hindsight. I made some career choices considering the facts and the circumstances that existed. Choices like had impact on my career. But I took the best decisions in the given circumstances. I don’t regret my decisions.
How would your peers and team members describe your responsiveness as a leader?
I believe that my colleagues and peers consider me a hardworking, focused, detail-oriented professional. They see me as a leader who is collaborative, explains the common purpose, facilitates the free flow of information, and encourages and includes diverse opinions to get to an answer. They saw me reaching across boundaries while leading large projects, many of them with global impact. My team sees me as someone who cares about their well-being as individuals and as professionals. My team knows that I will support them to foster change and innovation as we all have the accountability for results.
